School Profile: Tianjin University of Technology's School of Life Sciences

The School of Life Sciences at Tianjin University of Technology, originally the Department of Biomedical Engineering within the School of Electronic and Information Engineering, is recognized for its comprehensive subject setup, high-caliber faculty, and advanced experimental platforms. It holds a notable position in both Tianjin province and nationally, contributing significantly to biomedicine's advancement. To align with China’s Healthy Nation goals outlined in the 13th Five-Year Plan and to accelerate growth in healthcare sectors, our School was established in November 2018.

Focusing on biomedical engineering's cutting-edge research areas and fulfilling national needs, the School is dedicated to conducting foundational and applied research across key fields such as cell biology, molecular biology, brn science. Its mission involves service-oriented scientific research while nurturing exceptional talents with strong national pride, global perspectives, innovative spirit, and practical abilities.

Our program features an undergraduate major in Biomedical Engineering, a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, and a Master’s program in Engineering. Our team of professors includes seasoned educators and more than 90 of our full-time faculty members have doctoral degrees, many with international study experience beyond one year. We house seven graduate supervisors and eleven post-doctoral researchers, two Tianjin Outstanding Teaching Teachers, three candidates for the third level of the '131 Innovation Talent Trning Project' in Tianjin.

The School capitalizes on its affiliation with notable platforms like the Tianjin Key Laboratory of Photoelectric Detection Technology System, Tianjin Engineering Center for Medical Electronic Diagnosis and Treatment Technology, and Tianjin's Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers for General Colleges and Universities. In conjunction with Enzhipu National Engineering Practice Education Center, MCUDSP Application Lab, and Excellent Engineer Practice Base, we provide an advanced research environment and trning ground for high-level talent development.

Moreover, our innovative graduate student practice bases offer the latest equipment to simulate complex tasks and d in circuit debugging, mechanical engineering operations. We have also established cooperative trning bases with prestigious institutions including China Academy of Medical Sciences' Biomedical Engineering Institute, Suzhou Institute of Biomedical Engineering's Chinese Academy of Sciences' Technology Engineering Center, the Academy of Military Medical Science's Medical Instrument Institute, Beijing Yihe Jiaye Medical Technology Co., Ltd., Tianjin Nank Hospital, and more enterprises research institutes. These efforts promote collaborative educational programs with industry partners.

Fueled by national needs and strategic discipline development plans, we m to cultivate an interdisciplinary medical engineering ecosystem that integrates industry, education, and research. Our goal is to construct a world-class School of Life Sciences by pioneering in innovative fields like medical electronic diagnosis treatment technology, biomedical signal processing devices, flexible circuits intelligent wearable devices, medical imaging image processing, brn science cognition, cell biology, molecular biology.

The School actively engages with international partners from countries like the United States and Canada to enhance academic exchanges and collaboration across leading universities, research institutes, and companies.

Life sciences are a premier discipline in the 21st century, forming one of Tianjin University of Technology's key growth areas. Together, our faculty and students will forge an interdisciplinary innovation system, persistently striving for excellence and ming to build our School into a preeminent institute dedicated to life sciences through multidisciplinary integration and collaborative advancements with industry military sectors.
